The ladies of AFB showed off their model behavior for the second annual “Rock the Runway” fashion show last month, held to raise money for Turning Point, an emergency shelter for victims of domestic and sexual abuse.

Our relationship with Turning Point began last year when I was serving as a member of the board of directors and found out that they had a budget shortage. I thought that a fashion show would be a fun way to get my co-workers involved, as well as local businesses. Now in its second year, the “Rock the Runway” fundraiser is not only a great way to raise money for a worthy cause but also a way to build camaraderie between AFB team members.
“Seeing the way my co-workers come together to support this cause is so encouraging—I work with some really great people,” says Debbie, an attendee at the event.
Eleven AFB employees and two employees’ daughters served as the runway models for the event. An additional 20 employees helped with raffles, decorations, food preparation and serving, and working the gift tables. After watching the fashion show, attendees were able to shop for the looks they had just seen from local vendors.
Our “Rock the Runway” AFB Volunteers
The event raised $10,000 for Turning Point, which will help them to continue to provide a safe shelter, education programs and counseling services for victims of domestic violence. Both volunteers and attendees were impressed with the success of the fashion show, and planning for next year has already begun.
“I love when this event comes every year, because I get the chance to work with people that I don’t normally work with,” says Nicole, a co-chair of the event. “We come together to raise money for a great cause and have fun doing it!”
