Jay has 25 years of experience in statistical analysis and support across wide-ranging disciplines, including pet food manufacturing, biotechnology and social media analysis. He holds master’s degrees in statistics and education and a bachelor’s degree in bioengineering.
Since joining AFB in November 2015 at the company’s headquarters in St. Charles, Missouri, USA, he has established statistical best practices for AFB scientists to follow when collecting and analyzing data and reporting results. He also collaborates in designing experiments to record and analyze pet behaviors related to food consumption and enjoyment.
Jay appreciates both the analytic and creative sides of his job. “I especially enjoy the days I get to visit our pet research center and observe an experiment in action. It helps me understand the best way to do things in an actual feeding setting,” he says.
Both statistics and companion animals—German Shepherd Dogs particularly—have been a part of Jay’s life from an early age. He kept statistics for his grade school basketball team and four sports in high school and got his first dog at age 4. Today, he and his wife and two daughters are planning to add another dog to their family soon.
